Richard B. Cheney a prominent public servant and a businessman is vice-president of the United States. Bush picked Cheney as his vice president candidate in July 2000, citing Cheney's expertise and wisdom. Dick Cheney is a former Chief of Staff of the President. He also worked in Congress, and he was the secretary of defense. Republicans and Democrats alike respect Cheney for his honesty. Cheney says he sees his role in the administration as that of an open and honest advisor to Bush. In accepting the Republican vice presidential nomination Cheney stated that he looks forward to working with one who can work for the accomplishment of goals through reaching across the partisan aisle and working alongside political adversaries in good faith and common goal. Richard Bruce Cheney, son of Richard Herbert Cheney & Marjorie Lauraine Dickey was born on the 30th of January, 1941, in Lincoln Nebraska. As a 13-year-old, Richard Bruce moved with his parents from Nebraska to Casper (in the US state of Wyoming) in Wyoming, where his father served as director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's the district for soil conservation.
